Parksville rocks!

We were in dire need of a vacation. Who knew that kids could make you
so busy. Ok that's lame, but in reality there are times when you have
to just take a break as a family unit. A time to stroll the expanse of
Rathtrevor beach, no matter the weather. The picture was taken during
one of the very few sunny breaks, but we didn't care.

We went to Coombs to see the goats on top of the Market, they weren't
there. Then we went to Little Qualicum Falls, but there were
torrential downpours and I hate dealing with wet kids. Its kinda like
wet dogs. Anyway, after a drive through Qualicum Beach, we went back
to the condo.

After dinner we went on a lovely beach walk, with shakies of course.
We were together and that's all that ever matters.

Family time in Parksville is priceless.

Allison at the game

All dressed and ready for the game to begin.... Go Canada!!!

Donny is very wet, but very excited!

Donny is very excited, but very wet while entering the Canada -
Germany game... I guess the weather couldn't hold for the entire
games! Why would I blog for him? Maybe he won't be so evil during the
next croquet tourney!

Kori drinkin with us!

Hi Kori, welcome to my Blog!

More spending

Donny is on another splurge.... Just roll it up into the Mortgage.

Another round Donny?! Really?!

Apparently Donny and Alison went back for more....

The Spring Olympics

Weather has been very Spring like and Donny I were forced to make it
look like we wanted to stay, in reality, we are completely done.

Sharky wants to stay.

Apprently, Sharky would like to stay another night...
I say no.

Another day...

And we're done.
Time to go home, thank the dear Lord. Vancouver was a blast....

Shiny objects are distracting

Jami and I decided to go and see the real flame as shiny objects once
again distracted Chris and Donny. Surprisingly, the cauldron is not
that busy at 3 am...

Good times. Wicked trip, good friends, awesome time.... Priceless!

Don't break the seal

The line ups are huge everywhere, especially in a bar!
Don't break the seal.

Jami's new hat

Jami is apparently wearing Vancouver centre.... Last night is about
to begin

Crisis averted

Donny is da man!
I guess I should cancel the locksmith, but we're still waiting for the
drywaller.

Mmmmm Olympic dinner

Lookee what Higgs can do!
Awesome dinner.

Chris' dinner

Dinner, Chris Drey style.... So what would you do without a can
opener? Use a corkscrew of course!

Roadie with the fuzz

Nice!
Good times on Robson

Blogging from Robson

Streets are packed !
Soooooo much fun!

Make me a roadie!

I can't wait to go home... Dear lord I'm tired.

Question of the day: "is your beaver as bald as ours?"

We are conducting a poll tonight: Is your beaver as bald as ours?

Crude I know, but the results should be interesting.....

Waiting for a Locksmith and Drywaller

In a holding pattern, we have seen a bald beaver (see pics of Chris
last night) but here's Jami's hairless shark!

Eggs anyone?

Nothing better than bacon and eggs for the morning after....
We're all a little tired and slow today. I miss my own bed. These guys
are smelly.

Higgins!

Who emptied the ice tray..... Again?!
Chris, water in freezer = ice...

Who loves hockey?!

Who loves hockey?! Who?!

Hello Chris & Don?

So, we're not exactly sure how, but we lost Chris and Don. We all left
the Casino togegher, but once Jami and I turned around 20 meters
later, they were gone. So Jami and I had wicked Butter Chicken and
some dumplings and Then headed for the condo.

Rumour has it that Chris saw something shiny and Don followed.
Seriously, it was easier taking my 5 & 8 year old to the Olympics....
Jami's face says it all.... "I dunno"

Jami the Carr

Enough said
JTC forever

Who's idea was it to go to the Casino?!

Donny, fresh from his triumphant purchase of two jerseys, realizes
that the blackjack tables can take your money as well as payoff.....

What mortgage?

Donny, our Latvian (adopted) friend, bought the Kovalchuk and the
Lidstrom Jerseys.... $1000 on fun - priceless
No kids college fund I guess. :-)
All Allison wanted was a ski Canada pin... Enough said.

Chris is excited! :-)

Nice beaver?

Go Latvia!

These seats rock! 2 rows back from the glass, priceless. Watch for us
in our wigs and all out glory, on the highlights!

Burgers!

Burgers n beer before the game!
Have I told you how much I love my wife.... And my life!
I love Chris' beaver

Away we go!!

Idiots.
Go Latvia!

Day 2! Game 2!

We are heading out to the second game.... Donny is wearing the purple
proudly!!
We'll see if the Latvians accept our support or just look at us and go
"huh? Freaking Canadians....."

Paparattzi?

It was really funny to walk downtown Vancouver and have so many people
ask to take our pictures. Chris brought some wigs for us to wear and I
guess people loved us in them, or rather they loved the wigs.

Ummmm are we 40ish?

Our epic journey began with an amazing hockey game... Those damn Swiss
seem to always be a handful now. Sid pulled it out in the shootout,
the crowd went nutz!
We then came back to the suite and created a chorizo-prawn pasta....
Yum.
We then headed out to pretend that we are not 40. I actually had a
blast dancing with all the kids, they only pointed and laughed a
couple of times!
My ears are still ringing....

Thursday, February 18, 2010

Wtf.?!

Overtime shootout against the swiss???

Woo hoo

15 minutes until we leave..... Jerseys pressed and ready to go!

2nd shot

The other view...... Listening to 'oh Canada' by Classified!
The spirit is taking over!

Sweet suite!

A view from our balcony... Boyz are stoked, very excited to head to
the game!!!

Damn ferries!

Who loves the ferries? Not us.... But I guess we can make the sacrifice.

Here we go!

Here we go .... Beautiful start to the trip!

Da flame!!! #Olympics

So this is the closest we could get.... So there. That's it. The kids
were troopers and had a great time. Now we're on the foodless ferry
home (the snackbar actually has none), feeding our kids cracker crumbs
from the backpack....

WOW -- Silver medalist sighted! #Olympics

We just saw Jen Heil on her way through Robson Square..... So cool.
The crowd started to cheer, then she walked right past us. Amazing,
but I was too slow to get the camera out.
This is a shot of Robson St, just swarming with people....

Where's Waldo?? #Olympics

Robson square is a bit of a nightmare with kids in tow. But the
atmosphere downtown is incredible. So much fun and everyone is still
being nice to one another.

I can't wait! #Olympics

Talk about anticipation!

On our way!!!! #olympics

Here we go!!! Off to enjoy a day at the Olympics!

iPhones and blogging and travel stuff

I will admit it. I am a gizmo junkie. My recent aquisition is an
iPhone 3GS and I love it. I cannot believe what I can do with this
thing- write to my blog, take photos, record video, download an ever-
increasing number of quality apps to help manage all my stuff!

I intend on blogging my experiences from the Olympics, but I promise
to come home with all of my teeth, without a baby and no Tigers!
Nonethess, some interesting stories will be shared.

I will also try and blog from our pending ski weekend, and vacation to
Mexico.... Dork. I know.

Here is a recent photo from Kelowna

Me & Jamie

ok, so I saw the movie Julie & Julia and got somewhat inspired. I've always liked Jamie Oliver's tv shows and the way he presents cooking to the masses. I always felt that he is just trying to teach people how to cook, not teach them how to be a chef. His new project : The Food Revolution is perfect for cooks like me who pretend that they know what they're doing, when in fact it's a big sham and personally, my menu is very limited these days.

I've decided to try every recipe in Jamie's new book, The Food Revolution,(The Minisrtry of Food in Europe), and also taken the message to heart. All Jamie wants us to do is, learn a few of the recipes and then teach someone how to cook them. simple. A pay-it-forward kinda thing that will teach us how to cook and enjoy cooking again. Not to mention, get us out of the fast-food spiral that we're in - hopefully.

ok, maybe not that simple. I will periodically post the reults of my attempts at his recipes here..... Although I'm quite sure that I will not get a book deal out of this!
